Movie and Book Reviews

On this page I'll write reviews of the movies i like and books I read. (The review for each film is underneath the picture of that movie, and the same with the books).

Movie Reviews.

Moulin Rouge.

moulinrouge.jpg

Moulin Rouge is a great film! My Favorite. It's about love. Obviously you already knew that. But i like it because the stories good, the actors are brilliant, and i love the soundtrack! I know that's a bit bad, but i don't care, i like it. It's a really colourful film about how strong love really can be. It stars Nicole Kidman and Ewan Mcgregor and was made in 2oo1.

Pearl Harbor
pearlharbour.gif

This is my other favorite movie. Pearl Harbour. It's about America being dragged into the war, while Japan are planning a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor. There's romance as well. It's good. It stars Ben Affleck, Josh Hartnett and Kate Beckinsale and was made in 2001.

scream.jpg

Scream's a cool, spooky horror movie. It's about a serial killer on the loose dressed up in a Scream costume. He's goes around killing teenagers of course! But in the end you find out who the Scream is, which is good. I really enjoyed it, but the 2nd and 3rd aren't as good. Stars Courtney cox, David Arquette and Neve Campbell. Year: 2000. 10/10

interpreter.jpg

The Interpreter is a political thriller. It's fast-paced, with plenty of action. It's about the UN. I think it's good but you have to watch it carefully if you want to understand it. Stars Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn. Year: 2005. 10/10

descent.jpg

The Descent is a bloody horror about six women who go on a holiday to explore caves. When they get down there, there is a rock slide. They're caved in. From then on they have to find another way out. But they're not alone. There's creatures following them; and they're hungry!!!  Year: 2005.  8/10

missionimpossible3poster.jpg

To be honest i didn't think much of this film. It was really far-fetched as usual, and just so predictable. The action scenes were alright, and stunts were ok. The second one was definetly better though. Overall, this film was quite boring for me, i didn't really enjoy it.

trainspotting.jpg

Trainspotting is a great film. It's about a group of Heroin addicts who live in Scotland. It's about how they live their lives and what happens to them. It's definetly worth watching. Stars Ewan Mcgregor.  Year: 1996.

10/10

theisland.jpg

The Island is a good action film. It's about two clones who escape from their isolated environment, to try and find out who they really are. It stars Ewan Mgregor and Scarlett Johansson. Year: 2005

theothers.jpg

The Others is a cool film. It's about a woman called Grace who lives in a big house with her two kids, while her husband is fighting in the war. Shes needs help with the children as they are sensitive to light, so she employes some housekeepers. Little does she know that things are about to change.... There's a great twist at the end....
Stars Nicole Kidman. Year: 2001. 10/10

saw2.jpg

Saw 2 is a wicked film!! So gruesome!! It's the same story as the first one (if you've seen it). A serial killer picks people he thinks should play the game. He chooses people which he thinks aren't grateful for the life they have. He tests their will to live, by putting them in a room. From then on they have to play the game, and work round his mind tricks to survive...... Year: 2005. 10/10

finaldestination.jpg

Final Destination is a cool film about death. It's action. A boy on a flight has a preminition that the plane's going to crash, and people die. He gets off the plane with a few others. Then the plane blows up in front of them in the departure lounge. The survivors then start to notice strange things happening around them. You can't cheat death.....  Year: 2000.

6/10

Ewan Mcgregor is my favorite actor, and Nicole Kidman is my favorite actress, as you can probably tell!

Book Reviews

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
harrypotter.jpg
This is a good read about Harry in his first year at Hogwarts. 6/10

I like all of the Harry Potter books, have got them all, and read them all. I enjoyed them very much, good adventure. the best one's are 4,5 and 6. I have also read and got all of the Antony Horowitz books about the journey of young teenage spy Alex Rider. They're really cool, cause he's 13 and already a spy for M16. There's also 6 of them, and the film for the first book, Stormbreaker, will be released soon. It stars Ewan Mcgregor.

A Child Called It.
childcalledit.jpg

A child called it is a very good book. It's sad, but good. It's about one child's strength and courage to survive, even when there is nothing to live for. I really enjoyed reading this book and would recommend it definetly if you can take reading a book that's about domestic abuse to a young child. 10/10

bloodbonesandbodybits.jpg

Blood,Bones and Body Bits is a really cool book. If you haven't heard of the Horrible Science collection, well then now's your chance. I have most of the Horrible Science books, and Blood, bones and body bits was the first one i read. It's really funny with crazy cartoons and some fun facts. (There's also a Horrible Histories and Horrible Geography collection.) 10/10

eaglestrike.jpg

Eagle Strike is the 4th book of Alex Rider's journey as a spy for M16. It's packed with action and adventure. I really enjoyed reading this book, and all the others. Once i started them, i didn't want to put them down!  10/10
